Tallinn’s maritime festival to feature extensive children's activities

This year, Tallinn hosts and organizes the world's largest sail training regatta, Tall Ships Races, taking place from July 11-14 at Lennusadam, Noblessner Harbour, and the Old City Harbour Cruise Area. The grand maritime festival features a rich and varied children’s program.

According to Kristel Pedak, program director of Tall Ships Races Tallinn 2024, the goal of the children's program is to be as diverse and educational as possible, with activities for all ages. “We welcome all children to the maritime festival, regardless of age. There will be numerous competitions and other sporting activities. The stage program includes concerts, plays, circus acts, dance performances, and science shows. Useful knowledge will be shared by the Red Cross, the Recycling Wolf, and police officers. In the children’s areas, kids can craft, draw, and play with the Ship Captain and Pirate,” said Pedak.

As Tallinn is a UNESCO City of Music, Tall Ships Races Tallinn 2024 offers age-appropriate music and stage programs for children.

“Families with younger children should definitely come to listen to the Lolala concert on Saturday morning, July 13, at the Old City Harbour Cruise Area, featuring hits like ‘Crocodile Willie,’ ‘Color Song,’ ‘Alphabet Song,’ and many others. On the same afternoon, Piip and Tuut will perform their ‘Frog Song Concert’ on the Kalaranna stage, and on Sunday, the beloved clowns will appear at Noblessner Harbour in the stand-up comedy ‘Animals.’ On Sunday, young music lovers at Lennusadam will be delighted by Lotte, Roosi, and the Insect Band,” recommended the program director.

Additionally, visitors can enjoy KVARK Science Theatre performances, Desiree Dance Studio, and OMAtsirkus Circus at Noblessner Harbour. At the Old City Harbour Cruise Area’s Viking Village, kids can craft, and traditional Premia children's runs and mini-orienteering will take place at Lennusadam.

All stage performances, educational activities, and competitions are free for children in the harbors. Tickets are only required for attractions, bouncy castles, and Kai Art Center tours.

The extraordinary maritime festival Tall Ships Races brings over 60 large sailing ships from 16 different countries to Tallinn’s harbours. For four days, Tallinn’s harbours will be in a festive mood, with opportunities to visit sailing ships, listen to top Estonian artists, and participate in activities on land and sea.
